​Amy Harberg, M.Ed.

Amy is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S) in Texas, a National Certified Counselor (NCC), and a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor (RPT-S). Her formal education began at the Greenhill School in Addison, Texas, and Washington University in St. Louis (BSBA), where she studied business and psychology. In 2001, Amy earned a master’s degree in Counseling at the University of North Texas, where she trained in the world-renowned Center for Play Therapy with Dr. Gary Landreth. Amy continued her training in Adlerian Play Therapy under the guidance of Dr. Terry Kottman, where she became a certified Adlerian Play Therapist and consultant. Amy’s clinical experience has included working with children, adolescents, and young adults in emergency shelters, agencies, hospitals, schools, and private practice.

Amy works with a variety of clinical concerns, including anxiety, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), depression, eating disorder recovery, grief, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), and trauma. Amy is trained in many therapeutic approaches, including play therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and EMDR. Amy has been in private practice in Dallas, Texas, for over 15 years. Additionally, she is a certified yoga and mindfulness instructor with extensive teaching experience.

In addition to providing therapy services and running the business of Harberg Counseling, Amy teaches courses, writes articles, and presents to parents and professionals on relevant and current topics. Amy is an active member of the Association for Play Therapy, the Texas Counseling Association, the North American Society of Adlerian Psychology, the American Psychological Association, the American Counseling Association, and EMDR International Association. Amy is currently the president of the North Texas Chapter of the Texas Association of Play Therapy.

When Amy is not working, she enjoys doing yoga, playing pickleball, being outdoors, traveling, and spending time with her husband and three college-age children.
